Beija Flor Owners Introduce the 'Denim Salon'

The success of Beija-Flor’s first retail destination, Beija-Boutique at Plaza Suite in downtown Greenville, has sparked the jeans designers to develop an additional retail experience in the Greenville market.

Built out of the brand’s Greenville headquarters, the 300 square foot Denim Salon by Beija-Flor aims to offer shoppers a unique jeans shopping experience featuring one-on-one, focused denim consultations with members of the Beija-Flor design team. The concept and store design garners its inspiration from the method in which brides shop for wedding dresses at a “bridal salon.”

“It’s experiential shopping. After designing, creating, and selling jeans for the past 7 years, and being in retail for over 25 years we’ve realized that it’s not just about finding a great fitting, high quality pair of jeans, but it’s also about creating a personal experience and ultimately a personal connection,” said designer and co-founder Kathy Moca.

Another key component to the Beija-Flor Denim Salon is giving back to the Greenville community. The salon will partner with five local charities. With every jean sold, $10 will be donated to the customer’s charity of choice.

Denim Salon’s community involvement goal was inspired by Whitaker’s recent visit to Zappos’ headquarters in Las Vegas. “I left Zappos headquarters with an aha moment. I kept thinking to myself, we [Beija-Flor Jeans] can do this, too. I loved how Zappos core mission is all about creating a corporate culture that promotes happiness. Hopefully, by opening up our office, we will not only educate the community on what we’ve learned in fashion, but in business as well.” added Emilie Whitaker

Beija-Flor hopes that in exchange for offering locals personal access to the denim brand, it will gather important consumer feedback from the Greenville community.

The founders also see the Denim Salon as a perfect venue for jeans parties.  “We started this business by hosting “jeans parties” in women’s’ living rooms.  We hope that we can recreate that fun and beneficial party shopping experience in the Salon.  Who doesn’t love a good party that ends in finding a great pair of jeans?” added Moça.

The Denim Salon will be located at 1803 Augusta St. Suite D, and will be open Monday thru Saturday by appointment only, with exceptions of “Open Salon Wednesdays” and special events. Appointments can be made via email at salon@ilovethesejeans.com, or by calling 864-416-7155.
